Agadir is a city southwest of the Kingdom of Morocco, 508 km from the capital Rabat, overlooking the Atlantic coast at an altitude of 56 metres and the capital of the Sousse-Massa side in central-western Morocco. Founded by the Portuguese around 1500, and then liberated by the Moroccans in 1526, Akader has given the city several different names since the end of the 15th century, including local ones such as Akadir Iger, Akadir Erba, Adin Larba, Fonte and Taki Okdir for Arabic and, Taki Oromi. Some of them have been called by the colonists, especially the Portuguese, such as Santa Cruz de Ague Santa Cruz du cap do Gue. A few other names are found in international maps and official documents. The total number of such names has reached about 20, but the vast majority have disappeared over time. The city is now known by two of these names, Acader and another now called Fonte.
Agadir belongs to the Mediterranean and semi-Saharan climate at the same time. The annual temperature remains mostly in the 1920s. The highest summer temperature of 2012 was 51.7°, and the lowest was 2.6°.
Most festivals are held in Agadir during the summer, as this period is witnessing a great rise for visitors to the city to enjoy its large beaches. Among the most important festivals held are:
The Timitar Festival, attended by many Moroccan and foreign artists and mainly interested in Amazigh music, has been held every summer in various places in the city, with Hope Square, Begawan Square and the Outdoor Theatre since its launch in July 2004.

What distinguishes the city of Agadir, on the west coast of the Atlantic, is its mild weather, its 30-kilometre beach length, its golden sands, and a bright sun for 300 days a year. This feature has made it an excellent tourist destination, with luxury hotels and resorts lined up on the beach, all with open corridors towards the beach, in addition to the Moroccan architecture that characterizes these hotels and resorts besides the modern touch, as well as facilities for sports activities such as golf, tennis, equestrian tennis and others, without losing sight of the health treatment facilities, which are one of the largest and most important spas in Morocco and Africa, especially in the field of "tlastweraby", i.e. seawater treatment and all of the above.
